Skincare 101

I have been using facial cleansers, face masks, serums, moisturizers, for as long as I can remember. Well, I'm exaggerating just a little. I started using these when I turned 15, before that I would just wash my face with soap and call it a day. But when I turned 15 I wanted to experiment with both makeup and skincare, so as soon as my 15th birthday came I started buying my skincare products and building a routine. I can honestly say that I have used a lot of different skincare brands over the years. A lot of them promise to do a lot of things, but only the real deals have stayed in my skincare collection. In this blog, I will mention what products I use and what products I live by.

First of all, before you choose your products you need to understand your skin type and your skin needs. This is very important because depending on that you will know what type of products will work best for your skin. Products that work for me may not work for you because of our skin differences.

For example, I have combination skin. Meaning my skin has dry spots but can also get very oily. My skin concerns are blemishes here and there, especially during that time of the month and dullness. Knowing exactly what my skin needs is what has helped me come across the products that work for my particular skin type.

I do my skincare routine in the morning when I wake up and at night right before going to bed.

Morning Skincare Routine:

Every morning when I wake up I start my day with my skincare routine. Most of the times I start my routine while I shower. I use my "Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub" I apply onto my damp face in circular motion for a few minutes and then I remove it with warm water. The next step is to apply my facial toner. I use the "Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic" and I swear by this. This product is the holy grail of my skincare routine. I have noticed an immense difference in my skin since I started using this product. It is the very best and I recommend to everyone because this product is perfect for all skin types. I apply my toner with a cotton round tapping it lightly on my face. Following my toner, I use my "Pixi Beauty Rose Ceramide Cream" or my "First Aid Beauty Hello FAB Coconut Water Cream" I love these two equally and I alternate between the two constantly because I love them both so much. Simple right? This concludes my skincare portion in the morning. After this, I usually do my makeup for the day.

Nighttime Skincare Routine:

After a long day, I get home and one of the first things I do is remove my makeup with a makeup wipe or my "Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1"

After that, I repeat some of the steps from my morning routine like washing my face and then applying my toner. But here is where my morning skincare differs from my night skincare. At night after my toner, I always add an oil or a serum. I have a couple I use a lot because I'm constantly changing these and trying new ones. But I recommend all the Pixi beauty oils and serums if you're looking for a good affordable one. I always find myself going back to this brand. After that, I use one of my favorite moisturizers. The second to last step of my night skincare routine is applying the "Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix" under my eyes. I have crazy dark circles and this helps me tame them a little bit. Finally, last but not least I always use a spot treatment at night. I am currently loving the "Mario Badescu Drying Lotion" I use it on any pimple I may have with a Q-tip cotton swab and I'm done. The following morning I wake up to refreshed, beautiful baby soft skin.
